Don was a hippy right out of the sixties and he still wore his old military style jacket. It was a long one and had patches on the back and pockets where he had worn the material thin. His wife tried to throw the old military style jacket away and Don threw a fit. A couple of years later she asked to donate it and he told her not to go there. Eventually she bought him a new one hoping he would figure out that it was looking pretty tattered but he hung the old military style jacket in the closet and still wore it to parties.
She finally decided there were some battles in life you fight and some you do not. The difference in their marriage was the battles they choose to argue over and the old military style jacket was not worth the argument. Their best friends knew the story about the old military style jacket and some thought it was great that he kept his jacket all those years.
